Adobe’s decision: No Flash – Gain for HTML5

In the second week of November, 2011 Adobe has announced that they will discontinue working on its mobile Flash player. This decision is ultimately in favor of HTML5.

It will definitely take some time for the echo of this decision to filter down, considering the shifting market towards the mobile phones. The mobile companies have licensed the technology and will continue to support it for as long as it remains – and we try to say this without too much stability. But even for Adobe, they must have saw this coming as well as anybody else.

Slowly, a common forecast says that the markets are definitely shifting towards mobile phones… especially iPhones are leading the sales charts all over the world. Seeing this, even HTML5 is in gain as iOS in general do not support Adobe Flash as well Flex. However, they will continue with the Flex tools in the range of desktop applications development.

As of now, it seems like AIR will receive as much focus as ever, but for the most part the Adobe is said to be investing more in HTML5 than ever before, and most likely referring to authoring tools for HTML5 features too.
